NFL Flag Football
Middle school students from the Andover, Bolivar-Richburg, Cuba-Rushford, Fillmore and Genesee Valley Central School after-school programs will take part in Allegany County's first-ever NFL Flag Football league beginning March 28. Sponsorship provided by ACCORD's Choices for Youth, B.R.E.A.K. Zone and after-school programs enable students to join the NFL Flag Football at no cost, unlike most other youth football leagues. The students will be coached by volunteer high school students, and ACCORD staff members will referee the games.
Games will take place outdoors, despite the weather conditions. "We are going to get started next Friday and we are going to be outside," said Tracy Broshar, Youth Enrichment Manager for ACCORD. "It's ok, football is more fun when it's cold."
NFL Flag Football is a nationwide program, with leagues across the country and encourages sportsmanship and teamwork in their program. Coaches are asked to lead their teams by the league's seven guiding principles, which are to make games fun, to let everyone play and limit standing around, to teach every position to each player, to emphasize fundamentals, to develop skills, and to yell encouragement while whispering constructive criticism.

A schedule for each after-school program can be accessed by clicking on the links below. Even if you do not have a student enrolled in the league, you may show your support for the students by attending the games and cheering them on!
