Become a Day Care Provider

Who Is Eligible?
Anyone 18 years of age or older who resides in Allegany, Cattaraugus or Wyoming Counties. (If you reside outside of these areas, you will be referred to the Child Care Resource and Referral program in your area.)
What type of assistance is available?
- Assistance with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services registration application
- Assistance with meeting state, federal, and local regulations
- Start-up funds for health, safety, and educational supplies
- Resource and referral services
- Participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program
- Child care classes, workshops, and video-conferences
- Services are provided potential day care providers to assist them in meeting the 15 hours of training required by the New York State Child Care Regulations. Training topics provided by ACCORD include:
- Health and Safety Issues
- Child Development
- Guidance and Discipline
- Nutrition
- Child Abuse and Maltreatment for mandated reporters
- Trainings are held in the evening and on Saturdays to make them accessible to child care providers
- Services are provided potential day care providers to assist them in meeting the 15 hours of training required by the New York State Child Care Regulations. Training topics provided by ACCORD include:
- Technical assistance for child care providers who are interested in working with children with disabilities
- Start-up and maintenance grants for child care providers (subject to funding availability)
- Peer support group meetings to discuss issues and program information
- Quarterly training calendars
- Orientation class for individuals interested in becoming a registered, licensed child care provider
- Lending library of books and videos for child care providers
- Free access to services
Family Child Care Registration Program
- Registration and renewal of family child care applications
- Family child care facility inspection
- Family and illegal child care program complaint investigation
- Technical assistance for parents and child care providers regarding the New York State Office of Children and Family Services child care regulations.
