Next Event: September 11, 2010 at the Riverwalk Plaza Parking Lot (Wellsville). Call Allison Mosher at (585) 268-7605 ext. 1217 to schedule an appointment. Child must be present at event.

Is your child's car seat safe? Here are 6 questions to ask yourself.

  • Has the seat been in a crash?
  • Does it have missing parts?
  • Is it missing labels or stickers?
  • Is it on a recall list?
  • Is it over 6 years old?
  • Is it being used improperly?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, your child's seat is not safe and should be replaced. ACCORD's Child Care Services Division can help. Fitting stations are available by appointment on the third Tuesday of each month at our Martin Street location in Wellsville, NY. Please call (585) 593-0792 Ext. 1217 or 1231 to make an appointment.

Child Safety Seat FAQ's

  • Did you know that New York State law requires all children under the age of 4 to ride in a safety seat? The law also requires children ages 4 -6 to ride in a child restraint system. Safety seats must meet Federal Motor Safety Vehicle Standard 213.
  • Infant seats are for infants who weigh less than 22 pounds, are less than 25 inches in length and are less than 1 year old. All infant seats should be rear facing in the back seat of the vehicle. You should never put an infant in the front sear of your vehicle if you have a passenger side air bag.
  • Convertible seats are for infants and toddlers who weigh 40 pounds or less. For infants, these seats face the back of the vehicle. For toddlers who are more than 1 year of age, these seats can face the front of the vehicle.
  • Booster seats are for children who have outgrown the convertible seat. For the safety of your child, a booster seat should be used if they are between the ages of 4 and 8 and are less than 4 feet, 9 inches tall.
