Child and Adult Care Food Program


What is the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)?
CACFP is a meal reimbursement program that assists with the cost of nutritious meals provided to children in child care settings.

Who Is Eligible?

  • Registered/Licensed Child Care Providers
  • Individuals in the process of becoming registered, licensed child care providers
  • Child care providers who are receiving payment from the local Department of Social Services (CAP) for providing child care services

Policies

  • Enrollment forms are prepared and completed during the initial visit
  • A 28-day visit is scheduled to follow-up, and quarterly visits are conducted thereafter
  • Monthly menu and meal count forms are distributed and collected by our Child Care Services Divison
  • Only meals comprised of approved foods are reimbursable.
  • Paperwork must be maintained for 3 years

Tier I or Tier II Reimbursement Rates
All participants are eligible for partial reimbursement. Reimbursement rates are based on four eligibility categories:

  • School districts that maintain 50% or more of their student body in the free or reduced price lunch program.
  • A Child Care Program that is located in a census block that is considered below poverty level.
  • The income of the child care provider is within eligibility levels.
  • The child care provider is categorically eligible.


Can I receive reimbursement for my own children?

  • Participants can receive reimbursement for their own children if they are income eligible.
  • A provider's own children are eligible only when they receive meals with the other children in care.
