Anyone that truly needs our assistance will be helped to the best of our ability. Anyone that has received our assistance will be encouraged to help others to the best of their ability.

What is Community Action Angels?

Community Action Angels is an innovative volunteer coordination program at ACCORD Corporation, administered almost entirely by volunteers devoted to providing hope to people experiencing difficult circumstances.

Community Action Angels serves as a link between volunteers and the community in an effort to enhance existing and future programs. The program is managed by an Advisory Committee that is comprised of volunteers representing all areas of Allegany County.

While there are many services available to those in need, there are many more people needing assistance that do not fit within established program guidelines and eligibility criteria. Community Action Angels seeks to meet all needs, regardless of individual circumstances.

How Does the Community Benefit?

Community Action Angels will supplement existing programs, not replace them. Our community and partners will benefit by having improved access to a variety of resources including:

  • Volunteers for community projects
  • Enhanced outreach and greater visibility
  • Enhanced referral networks
  • Duplication of services reduced
  • Faith-based connections
  • Technical Assistance
  • Access to unrestricted funds

Community Action Angels is currently involved in several efforts throughout our area including:

  • Holiday Assistance for children
  • Food distributions and holiday food boxes
  • Clothing and furniture collection and distribution
  • Nursing home projects and services for the elderly
  • Highway clean up
  • Fundraisers
  • Coat drive for children
  • Disaster relief
