Early Head Start

Early Head Start is a child development program for pregnant women and families with children ages birth to age 3. The program charges no fee and is primarily for families whose income is below the federal income guidelines.

Parents and/or children can attend our center based program 4 days per week, and each family has a home visit once a month. There is also a home based option? for families who do not live within our transportation route.

Early Head Start integrates child development, education, and health services (physical, dental, mental, and nutrition). Family and community partnerships bring a broad range of services, which address the individual needs of each child and their family.

Services, prenatal care, and education for pregnant women are provided by staff and the program nurse regarding nutrition, fetal development (including risks), breast feeding, postpartum recovery, and parenting skills. Our staff are advocates and liaisons between pregnant women and service providers, including counseling, prevention / intervention, and treatment services.

Center based, home based, and family day care partnership options continue to be available to children and their families once the child turns 3 years of age.
