Excellent Volunteer Opportunities!

ACCORD Corporation provides an environment that enhances the experiences and educational opportunities for volunteers, age 18 and older, while assuring appropriate measures have been taken to protect program participants and enhance services delivery.

ACCORD Corporation's Volunteer Policy

It is the policy of ACCORD Corporation to provide experiential opportunities to community volunteers by encouraging individuals to become involved by providing time and services to assist the agency in meeting our mission. Volunteers are not considered employees and are under no obligation to provide time, duties or resources other than what he or she chooses to freely provide. This policy applies to volunteers ages 18 and older. Volunteers having any contact with program participants will be supervised by ACCORD staff at all times. Volunteers do not receive wages for service performed. If at any time, a volunteer fails to meet expected standards of conduct, the volunteer relationship will be terminated. The appropriate Division Director will make such determinations.

Opportunities

ACCORD Corporation offers a wide array of programs, and therefore a wide array of volunteer opportunties in each of our eight service areas:

Selection of Volunteers

Prior to providing services as a program volunteer, each candidate must submit a written letter of recommendation. The letter should be completed by a member of the community who is not a relative of the candidate and who has had a relationship with the individual of two or more years. The letter should include a reason or reasons as to why the individual writing the letter believes the candidate is suitable to volunteer with ACCORD Corporation. Each volunteer will participate in an interview with the appropriate supervisor and complete a volunteer application form. All candidates for volunteer programs must be approved by the appropriate Division Director prior to their first day of service.

A background check will be performed on all volunteers applying to work with children and youth under the age of 18.
