Teenage Services Act
A confidential and voluntary case management program for male and female youth aged 10 to 21 living in Allegany and Cattaraugus counties. Goal planning, pregnancy and parenting information, life skill information such as learning effective communication skills and increasing your self-esteem are benefits of the program. Case managers coordinate services, make referrals, and facilitate service plan meetings as necessary. Service coordination and referrals are facilitated to ensure that sufficient attention is dedicated to the youth and service plan meetings enhance service delivery and coordination by collaborating with local service providers. Through individual case management, emotional support is provided to help youth achieve success by making positive and informed decisions. Services are tailored to meet the individual goals for each youth. Goals vary for youth an include education, healthy pregnancy outcomes, self-esteem, anger management, and positive relationships. Referrals are made to service providers that will assist the youth in achieving their goals. Common referrals are to GED, employment, counseling, and parenting services. Youth work on obtaining housing and employment and maintaining adequate support to achieve self-sufficiency objectives.
