ACCORD Head Start program has closed it’s Friendship and Cuba Centers for Thursday and Friday. One staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. It is important to note that casual contact with a positive person does not necessarily make you a direct contact that would require quarantine. Whether you are a direct contact requiring quarantine, depends on a number of factors including the use of face coverings, social distancing, and the duration of contact. If you do not receive a phone call from the Health Department, you are not a direct contact subject to quarantine.
This individual has not been at work since Friday, October 16, therefore, the contacts that have been identified by the Department of Health are very limited. This closure is happening with an abundance of caution given the current community rise in COVID-19 cases. Centers will undergo an extensive cleaning and disinfecting process during the closure and will maintain our enhanced COVID-19 cleaning and disinfecting schedules thereafter. We anticipate re-opening both Head Start Centers on the regular schedule on Monday, October 26. Families will be notified via established communication procedures should anything change.
