The Friendship toddler classrooms have always loved to show off what they are doing at the center. Most of the pictures and videos we use on Facebook posts are of our toddlers in Friendship. All of our locations provide high quality childcare services by caring staff. The Friendship center team is comprised of our most veteran staff who have a variety of teaching experience from 1 year to over 30 years and a true passion for serving the children and families in our community. They also love submitting photos to show what their students are learning. You may have seen some of our pictures of the children just this summer growing a garden, raising and releasing monarch butterflies, and harvesting sunflower seeds. Tami, Friendship Early Head Start teacher, was happy to share that “This week we have been learning about containers, what we use them for, all the sizes they come in, how some open and close, etc. The children have been using their fine motor skills in trying different ways to open containers and try to keep them close. We brought snow in the classroom during the frigid cold days when we were unable to get outside. We created blue snow and pretended it was the artic ocean with different animals and ocean life. We have been checking on our frozen suncatchers to see how much they have been melting in the sun. We have also been learning more shapes this week. The “Star” shape is among the favorite of the children. We planned a pajama day and I am happy to report, every child came dressed to the max, sporting their favorite pajama’s. We built forts in the classroom and explored with flashlights while reading books to the children.”
The Friendship center is currently serving 8 infants ages 6 weeks to 18 months, 16 children between the ages of 18 months to 3 years, and 14 students between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. Friendship is one of our largest centers, second to our Wellsville center that is funded to serve 74 children. Our smaller centers of Belfast, Bolivar, and Cuba are each funded to serve between 22 to 25 children ages 18 months to 5 years.
But, let me tell you about the staff in Friendship. The Friendship center is currently comprised of 5 teachers, 2 floaters, 2 teaching assistants, 2 managers, 1 family partner, 1 facilities worker, 1 bus driver, and 1 nutrition services worker. This team of 15 staff are always willing to step in to help one another and will always go above and beyond to provide the highest level of services to families and children. They have excellent attendance at their virtual parent nights, providing slide shows of the children for parents to see what they have being doing in class each month.
