Home Based Head Start

Home Based education experiences are unique and individualized to each child and their family. ACCORD Head Start is funded to serve 65 children in Allegany County ages birth to five years. The Home Based Visitor meets with each family in their home at a time and day that is most convenient for the family. Each visit lasts for 90 minutes once a week and is tailored to meet each family and child’s individual needs. The Home Based Visitor brings the classroom experience right to the home and provides parent education so that the parent can continue the lessons throughout the week as their child’s first and most important educator. Cindy and Alyssa are currently the home-based visitors for ACCORD Head Start in Allegany County. They bring with them many years of experience and passion for the home-based program.

A home-based parent described her experience with the program; "I love the Home-Based Head Start program. The program is not just for kids to learn, it also helps the parents teach their kids in different ways. Home visitors can help you with other things, like learning disabilities. They will help link you to the right program. I have been in the program for many years and a lot of things have changed-but for the better! The staff are always polite and willing to help in any way they can. I am thankful for being in the program. My kids all have loved their home visitors"

The home-based team is seeking new team members. If you want to make a difference in the lives of children and families in the community, visit www.accordcorp.org for employment opportunities.
